The chapel of Saint Olav in Covarrubias

The building of this chapel fulfils a wish expressed almost 750 years ago by Princess Kristina of Norway to her husband Prince Felipe of building a chapel in Spain in honor of Olav the Saint.

The building does not only fulfil Princess Kristina’s promise, but also represents a clear bet to increase the rich heritage of Covarrubias with a sample of contemporary architecture. Its modern spirit results from the study of Romanesque and Preromanesque churches, like the nearby Santa María de Lara in Quintanilla de las Viñas.
